Several religions follow certain rules regarding the principle of interest. For instance, in the Hebrew Bible, the Book of Ezekiel classifies the charging of interest among the worst sins. Nevertheless, new approaches to interest – particularly concerning the permissibility of interest-based banking – have emerged.

During this round table, we will dive into several questions regarding the topic of interest and morality in religion. Why do some religions believe that interest is a sinful principle? And how have they found new solutions?
