In the 2016 US elections, 81% of white evangelical Christians voted for Donald Trump, leading him to perform unexpectedly well. For many Americans, their vote for Trump symbolised the (perceived) Christian heritage of the country. For the 2020 elections, white evangelical Christians are seen as the one group that can be Trump’s best chance at re-election. But how does the effect of religion on the US elections influence religion in Europe? And what is the role of religion on politics in Europe? The virtual round table aims to offer some new perspectives.
